Seven Summits

The seven summits is an annual classic. There is also a running race and a bike race taking place on the seven summits this year - August 19th I think. Jim and I rode the trail the other day another beautiful trip.

Opening Day at Red Mountain

Red Mountain has always been good to me. Fernie, Whitewater, Lake Louise and Sunshine too. Actually Schweitzer has been damn fun too. Hmm. Skiing has been good to me. Every day is a good day of skiing. I like skiing powder, I like skiing perfect groomers. It's all good. Paradise lift at Red Mountain has a nice mixture of groomers and glades. A relaxing day in the mountains skiing. Enjoy. Stay at Angela's B&B for the ultimate Rossland experience.

Burning down the House!

The volunteer fire department of Rossland got the opportunity to burn down a house. After setting up a couple of fire simulations the house was set alight. The fire took under one hour to burn the house to the ground. The fire department ensured that the fire did not spread. Photographer Sara Rainford was present to record the event. The Rossland Record also used images from Ms. Rainford on the front cover of their June 1st 2006 issue. Trevor Holsworth provided transport for Ms. Rainford to the event. The building was located behind the Rock Cut Pub and the new site of the real estate property development led by Warren Ham.

Mountain Biking in Rossland

Yesterday Stuart Spooner showed me around some of the moderate mountain biking trails in Rossland. Stuart is the man behind the trail development at the Rossland Trails Society. An extensive network of trails is under development and maintenance. The trails range in difficulty from rail grades suitable for the family to the gnarliest rock drops, narrow tree rails and nasty steep switchbacks. Some of Canada's top mountain bikers make Rossland their home during the summer to enjoy the trail network. In the morning my friend Jim and I rode up Monte Christo, down Snake and up KC and then down to Happy Valley. In the afternoon after the 4 or 5 thunderstorms that rolled through town Stuart took me along Drakes and Doukhabor Draw missing the rainstorms before and after.
